The University counts with the Department of Chemistry, Biology and Biotechnology experienced in European projects and the synthesis and characterisation of polymers; and the Italian Brewing Research Centre, dedicated to the innovative technology transfer of the brewing industry.
Role in POLYMEER: project coordinator (WP6) and leader in the lab scale process of monomers and macromers production (WP1).
Founded in 1303, Sapienza is the oldest university in Rome and the largest in Europe. It has facilities and vast expertise for manufacturing and testing polymers and polymer matrix composites, characterisation of polymers and polymer matrix composites and use of plant fibres in biopolymers.
Role in POLYMEER: leader in the lab scale formulation of the developed biopolymers and optimisation of processing parameters (WP2).
Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant (BBEPP)
Independent non-profit SME located in North Sea Port, Belgium, consisting of a flexible and diversified open access pilot plant for the development, up-scaling and production of new, biobased processes. It counts with equipment for pre-treatment, fermentation, bio catalysis, green chemistry, etc.
Role in POLYMEER: scale up of the BSG components isolation and advisor for the process at lab scale.
Next technology tecnotessile (NTT)
Private non-profit research company from Italy, focused on the research and technological innovation in the textile sector. Reference point for research and technological innovation in the textile sector involved in research projects on textile processing and textile machinery design.
Role in POLYMEER: testing textile applications and supporting biopolymers formulation, compounding, characterisation and scaling up.
Lomartov (LOM)
Engineering SME based in Spain that provides high-qualified consultancy services to help developing innovative and circular solutions, industrial, societal, and technological projects to improve their environmental, economic, and social sustainability.
Role in POLYMEER: leader of the sustainability assessment and end of life scenarios (WP4) carrying out a LCA, a techno-economic feasibility analysis and a social acceptability study.
Zabala
With 500+ employees, and located in Spain, France, Belgium and Portugal, provides consultancy services related to R&D
and innovation management to 10K clients. It has coordinated and participated in 60+ EU projects. For more than 10 years, leading Dissemination & Communication Strategies for 20+ H2020 and Horizon Europe projects.
Role in POLYMEER: leader of dissemination and communication activities (WP6) and support of the coordination team.

Aimplas
Technological centre in Spain with 30+ years of experience developing plastic products. Working on the development and formulation of plastic materials and products, processing and prototyping testing, technical advisory and lab characterisation of plastics and composites.
Role in POLYMEER: participant in the recyclability tests and characterisation of the bioplastics.
Normec OWS (OWS)
Belgian company mainly active in biodegradation and organic recycling laboratory testing, compost and
digestate analyses and environmental sustainability assessment. It is involved in the development of test
procedures to evaluate the biodegradation and ecotoxicity of materials.
Role in POLYMEER: biodegradability and recycling testing of the formulated bioplastics and study of the end-of-life scenarios.
Bio-Mi
Research and development SME based in Croatia dedicated to research, development and production of biodegradable, recyclable and bio-based thermoplastic materials, and products for primary and secondary packaging as well as agricultural products.
Role in POLYMEER: leader of WP3 for scaling of the project to pilot, specially focused on the scaling of the compounding and formulation and the film for agricultural applications
University of Twente (UT)
University in the Netherlands standing for life sciences and technology with 3000+ researchers and professionals. The
research group “Sustainable Polymer Chemistry” (SPC) has expertise and reputation on developing biodegradable and biobased polymers.
Role in POLYMEER: development and synthesis of biobased (co)polymers. With state-of-the-art syntheses facilities and polymer analytics (molecular scale and macroscopic properties).
Birra Peroni (PERONI)
Italian brewery founded in 1846 and part of the Asahi international group, that offers a large variety of products. It counts with 3 production plants and has an annual beer production of more than 7 million hectolitres, of which more than 2 are exported.
Role in POLYMEER: BSG knowledge and tertiary packaging potential consumer.
Borgstena (BTP)
International company dedicated to the production of textiles for automotive applications with presence in 21 countries and 4 continents. Committed with sustainability, it works with technological materials and processes that reduce logistics and material waste.
Role in POLYMEER: application of the bioplastics in textiles for automotive elements.
Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft (FRAUN)
Applied research organisation based in Germany which operates 76 institutes and research units with around 30800 employees. Pilot Plant Centre for Polymer Synthesis and Processing PAZ performs polymer synthesis and processing procedures on an industrial-orientated scale allowing flexible polymerisations.
Role in POLYMEER: responsible for the scaleup synthesis of monomers and co-polymers.
Gate2Growth (G2G)
Advisory firm in Denmark specialised in supporting innovative SMEs by conducting both business, financial and socio-economic analysis including business model and value-chain analysis. Company with broad industry experience in EU projects from very different business and industry sectors.
Role in POLYMEER: responsible for the exploitation of the project results and design of the business plan.
